All features
Everything AnhourMail does today — custom domain email, aliases and masked aliases, private webmail, IMAP, SMTP and JMAP, shared mailboxes and data export.
AnhourMail is private, low-cost email hosting: a free address at anhourmail.com, or your own domain on
the paid plans, with fast open-source webmail and every standard mail protocol. This page lists what works today,
grouped the way people look for it, with a link to the guide for each. What isn't built yet is listed at the end.
Email on your own domain
- Custom domain email on Plus and Supporter: add a domain you own and keep it with your registrar; you only add DNS records.
- Guided DNS setup. The console shows every record with a copy button and checks each one live, so you can see what's left. It works with any DNS provider.
- Signed mail. We create DKIM keys for your domain (an RSA key and an Ed25519 key) and show them as ready-to-paste records, alongside SPF and DMARC.
- Catch-all sends mail for addresses that don't exist at your domain to one mailbox.
- Automatic setup records (optional) let many mail apps fill in the server settings from your address.

A free email address
Every account can claim one free address at anhourmail.com with 1 GB of storage,
once it has confirmed its email address. Names that would pass for system or staff addresses are reserved, and a name
is never handed out again.
Guide: Your free address
Email aliases and masked aliases
- Aliases are extra addresses that deliver to your mailbox, such as hello@ or shop@ on your domain.
- Masked aliases are random addresses you give to one site each, so the site never learns your real address.
- Switch any alias off when it starts getting spam, and back on later. A note on each reminds you where you used it. Reply from whichever address the mail came to.
- Plus addressing: add
+anythingafter your name, with no setup. - How many: on Free, 10 aliases and 10 masked aliases at a time; on the paid plans, up to 400 per mailbox, both kinds together.

Private by default
- No ads, no tracking, no profiling. Paid plans fund the service, and there's no analytics in the product or on this site.
- Remote images are blocked until you choose to load them, so tracking pixels can't report when you open a message. When you do load them, they come through our privacy proxy, so the sender never sees your IP address.
- Every message opens in a sandboxed frame with scripts off, after its HTML has been cleaned.
- Your mail stays out of our logs. Subjects, bodies and recipients never go into logs, analytics or the audit log.

Fast, open-source webmail
The webmail at mail.anhourmail.com talks JMAP to the mail server, so it fetches only what changed instead of
downloading whole folders.
- Conversations and folders: threads, archive, junk, move, pin favourite folders, and search with filters.
- Writing: rich text (sent with a plain-text copy), drafts, undo send, attachments, and named signatures.
- Several mailboxes in one session, and shared mailboxes opened by address in a tab of their own.
- Keyboard shortcuts for everything you do often.
- Settings that run on the server: automatic replies, confirmed forwarding, and blocked and safe senders, so they apply in every app you use.
- Your look: light and dark themes, density, reading pane, your photo and sender name.

Contacts that sync
An address book beside your mail: add, edit and group contacts, import and export vCard files, and people you email are saved for you. Contacts sync to your phone and computer over CardDAV.

IMAP, SMTP and JMAP for any mail app
Use the webmail, the mail app you already like on your computer or phone, or both. Connections are always encrypted.

Families and small teams
On Plus and Supporter, one account holds everyone, for one yearly price.
- People and roles: invite up to 10 people and give each a role (owner, domain, user or billing administrator, member, or read-only).
- Mailboxes: 10 included, sharing the account's 10 GB. Add a user and their mailbox in one go, set storage per mailbox, and suspend, delete or restore mailboxes.
- Shared mailboxes for addresses like support@ or family@, on your own domain or ours.
- Delegation: give someone Read and manage, Send as or Send on behalf on a mailbox, and convert a person's mailbox to a shared one when they leave, so no mail is lost.

Sign-in security
Two-factor sign-in with an authenticator app, recovery codes, and passkeys or security keys. Owners can require a second factor for everyone in the account, and you can see and end your sessions.
Guide: Sign-in security
Accountability
An append-only, tamper-evident audit log records every change in your account and who made it. When Anhourtec support needs to look at your console, it's read-only, short, explained and shown in your audit log.
Guide: Audit log
Your data, and leaving
- Export your mail and contacts whenever you like: one
.mboxfile per folder and a vCard file, straight from your mailbox. Account owners can also export the account's settings and audit log. - Delete your account with a 14-day grace period you can cancel.
Guide: Export your data and delete your account
Open source and self-hosting
The webmail, console and this site are open source (AGPL-3.0), the reusable libraries MIT. The mail server is Stalwart, run unmodified. You can read the code, and run the stack yourself.

Not built yet
We list these so nothing here reads as a promise:
- Paying for a plan. Billing opens with the beta; until then the prices above are planned prices.
- Importing mail and contacts from another provider. Until it arrives, any mail app can copy mail over IMAP (see switching).
- Newsletters and bulk sending, a paid add-on for Plus and Supporter (coming later).
- Instant push in the webmail. Today it checks for new mail while it's open.
